Sara Morgan is a performing singer/songwriter quickly making her name known throughout the Midwest and beyond. A true storyteller, Sara brings her music to the stage in songs she calls “hip honky tonk” and “hybrid country”. Her original songs contain thought-provoking lyrics rich in substance, accompanied by music that blends a modern, contemporary sound with echoes and tinges of the traditional, classic country she loves.
Whether she plays an intimate solo acoustic set for a crowd of 50, or rocks the stage with her band for hundreds, Sara has an authentic transparency and vulnerability that has proven to be endearing to her steadily increasing fan base. Sara always takes time to meet and take photos with fans after shows. She loves getting to know people as much as she loves writing and performing. Sara is also a “buy local” girl and is proud to say that all merchandise sold at her shows is “Made in the USA”.
Recognized by local music critics as Kansas City’s Best Newcomer of the year, Sara recently had the honor of performing for thousands of students at the 2016 Missouri FFA state convention at the University of Missouri. Sara has opened for country hit-makers LoCash, chart topping country singer Chase Bryant, Grammy winning singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell, Grammy and Dove award winner BJ Thomas, country superstar John Michael Montgomery, singer-songwriter Michael Martin Murphey, Radney Foster, Craig Wayne Boyd, Sex and the City heart throb John Corbett, alternative folk singer/songwriter Sean Rowe, Lawrence, KS native Chuck Mead of the famed 90’s alternative country band BR549, and singer/songwriter Ben Taylor. She was also the preshow act at the Industry Bar inside the Uptown Theater in Kansas City before her idol, Loretta Lynn, took the main stage in November 2014. Her dream of being able to spend a quality moment with the Queen of Country came to fruition when Ms. Lynn hosted Sara on her tour bus after Sara’s set and prior to Ms. Lynn’s performance. The experience was magical.
Although Sara’s live performances contain a definite country flair, her catalog reaches across multiple genres. Sara writes and composes an eclectic mix of songs ranging from folk, Americana, bluegrass, and country, to rock, pop, and contemporary Christian. Her versatility as a singer/songwriter is as undeniable as her uneffected, crystalline vocal sound.
Sara has appeared on WDAF Fox TV, KCTV 5; her songs get radio play on Top 40 stations as well as independent and community radio stations across Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska. Iowa, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Louisiana. The first station to break Sara’s music on the airwaves was KKFI 90.1 FM in Kansas City. Shortly thereafter, KCUR 89.3 FM, KTBG 90.9 FM “The Bridge” in Kansas City, KMXN 92.9 “The Bull” in Lawrence, and KR 92.1 in Belleville, KS began spinning her music. Other stations recently followed suit after she completed a 70 station, seven-state radio tour in seven weeks promoting her new DRIVE A TRACTOR single. Sara has been featured in the Kansas City Star, Ink Magazine, Bridge 909 News, and The Pitch. She records at Chapman Studios in Lenexa, Kansas. Sara is supported by a top notch backing band consisting of the legendary Pastor Carl Butler on guitar, Steel Guitar Hall of Famer Bobby DeMoss, road warrior and showman Chase McRoy on bass, and high energy drummer, Duncan Burnett, all of Kansas City.
